GOOD JOBS REPORT

Hawai‘i Workforce Funders Collaborative discovered that few jobs in Hawaiʻi offer wages sufficient for residents to support themselves and their families. In fact, among the 755 occupations within Hawaiʻi's industries, only 26 provide more than 100 annual job openings and a wage that can sustain a resident and one other family member. ALICE IN HAWAIʻI

ALICE stands for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed and it tracks both the incidence of financial hardship in Hawai‘i and the day-to-day impacts on island residents.

Aloha United Way’s report expands upon earlier studies conducted by United For ALICE, which juxtapose the local cost of living against household income to determine the proportion of households falling below the ALICE Threshold – encompassing those identified as ALICE and those beneath the Federal Poverty Level (FPL).
