Part-time ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Instructors

ChangeMakers Hawaiʻi is seeking two dedicated part-time ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi Instructors to join our team. These positions will be responsible for teaching the Hawaiian language to business owners and employees, contributing to the preservation and growth of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi within the professional sector.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct an ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi survey for each participating business to determine ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi business needs.

  • Develop and deliver lessons that integrate successful educational practices from both Western and Hawaiian cultures.

  • Establish and maintain a learning environment grounded in Hawaiian values, with high expectations for language proficiency and engagement.

  • Set clear learning objectives, aligned with culturally relevant curriculum, and design assessments to track and measure progress.

  • Provide onsite coaching with business owners and staff.

  • Foster a strong sense of Hawaiian identity and language within the workplace, supporting businesses as they incorporate ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi into daily operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficiency in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi and knowledge of Hawaiian cultural practices.

  • Experience in teaching or instructional design, preferably with a focus on culture-based education.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with adult learners from diverse backgrounds.

  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment that aligns with both Hawaiian and Western educational methodologies.
