Pass the turkey and gratitude…please.

Many of us ask ourselves and the family sitting around the table on Thanksgiving to share what they are thankful for?  It is a great question.  But gratitude can be both reflective as well as actionable every day of the year.

  • Some people create Gratitude Journals to help build a gratitude mindset.

  • Some incorporate gratitude into their prayers and devotional time.

  • Some reflect their appreciation through actions daily.

There is great peace and joy that can come when we shift our gratitude from reflection to action.  Take a chance, challenge your family sitting at your Thanksgiving table with both some thoughtful reflections and activities.

Gratitude Reflection

  • What is there about a challenge you’re experiencing right now that you can be thankful for?

  • List 5 people in your life who is hard to get along with—and write down at least one quality for each that you are grateful for and add them to your prayer time.

  • When was the last time you laughed uncontrollably—relive the memory.

Gratitude Reflection in Action

  • List five small ways to share your gratitude today and do at least two during the week.

  • Write about a person in your life that you’re incredibly grateful for and why and share it with them.

  • What skills or abilities are you thankful for and put one of them to use for someone else.

  • What activities and hobbies would you miss if you could not do them…invite someone to join you.

  • List five body parts that you’re grateful for and why…do something to care for that body part.

Sometimes we need to stop the tapes playing in our head about “What we DON’T have.” “What we have NOT achieved.” “What we have done WRONG” and “How we are NOT worthy.” and change our thoughts to gratitude that then spill out into action.

Share how you put your gratitude into action on our Twitter and Facebook.
