Doris Tinsley is the Operations Director at Changemakers Hawaiʻi, where she leads organizational operations, systems development, and strategic implementation across workforce development, education, and economic mobility initiatives. In this role, she oversees internal infrastructure, program operations, compliance, and cross-team coordination to ensure Changemakers’ mission is carried out with clarity, accountability, and long-term sustainability.
Doris brings extensive experience in nonprofit operations, Indigenous governance, philanthropy, and workforce systems. She has managed complex grant portfolios and federal contracts, built organizational systems from the ground up, and supported organizations through periods of rapid growth and institutional transition. Her work centers culturally grounded operations that honor community knowledge while meeting rigorous administrative and funding requirements.
She is also the founder of Native Americans in Higher Education and Mentorship (NAHEM), an Indigenous-led nonprofit advancing education access, mentorship, and workforce pathways for Indigenous communities across multiple states. In addition, Doris founded Eastern Fire Collective, an Indigenous-led initiative focused on governance reform, systems design, and community-driven strategies that strengthen sovereignty and self-determination.
Doris serves on the Shinnecock Indian Nation’s Governance Committee, where she is helping lead the Nation’s constitutional review process as part of a broader effort to strengthen tribal governance and nation-building efforts. An enrolled member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation and a graduate of Virginia Tech, Doris is guided by a belief that strong operations and culturally rooted systems are essential to lasting community change.
