Philanthropono Hōʻike Celebrates Hawaiʻi’s Emerging Fundraising Leaders

Hilo, HI, August 26, 2026 — What happens when nonprofit leaders are given the tools, confidence, and space to strengthen fundraising for the communities they serve?
On September 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. Hawaiʻi Time, Philanthropono will bring community members together for its Hōʻike Celebration, a virtual gathering highlighting the work and growth of haumāna completing the Philanthropono learning journey.
The Hōʻike is the culmination of weeks of learning and hands-on application. Haumāna will share real-world fundraising strategies and plans developed for organizations working across culture, education, community well-being, youth development, and other areas of impact.
“There is something really special about seeing our haumāna step into the Hōʻike and share what they have created,” said Changemakers Hawaiʻi Founder Olani Lilly.
“They have put so much thought, energy, and heart into their work throughout these cohorts. Watching their ideas grow into fundraising strategies they can take back to their organizations and communities is incredibly meaningful. We’re excited for people to join us, encourage them, and celebrate how far they’ve come.”
The program will also include reflections and encouragement from panelists and an opportunity for the community to learn more about the organizations and work represented by the haumāna.

Philanthropono is a training program funded by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and Robert’s Foundation that strengthens fundraising capacity among Native Hawaiian, Native American, and Alaska Native leaders. Grounded in cultural values and ancestral practices, the program helps participants build authentic relationships, develop compelling cases for support, and sustain their organizations through community-centered fundraising.
Philanthropono will also open registration for its next Kaʻiʻi Beginner Cohort launching in January 2027.
